The American Heart Association is
the only certificate that is accepted in all hospitals and medical
agencies with the American Red Cross close behind. Both of these
organizations provide local courses in most fields of healthcare. They
differ in the courses they provide in that the Red Cross focuses on
non-healthcare provider professions such as lifeguard or babysitter and
teach courses with a curriculum geared towards these specific
occupations.
In order to determine which course you
will need to take, first use a search engine to bring you to the
American Heart Association website, Once there, it will ask you to type in your zip code and the type of
class you need to take. If you do not know the class, you have the
option of answering a few simple questions that will narrow down the
choices. The American Heart Association, on the other hand, is geared towards certifying healthcare providers so the organization provides additional training in BLS and ACLS.
