BLS is the level of medical care
which is used for victims of life-threatening illnesses or injuries
until they can be given full medical care at a hospital. It can be
provided by trained medical personnel, including emergency medical
technicians, paramedics, and by laypersons who have received BLS
training. BLS is generally used in the pre-hospital setting, and can be
provided without medical equipment.
BLS certification is a relatively short
training course required of many health professionals to help revive,
resuscitate, or sustain a person who is experiencing cardiac arrest or
respiratory failure of some sort. This could include a drowning victim,
heart attack or stroke patient, or any scenario where breathing or
heartbeats have been compromised. BLS class provides trainings on the
latest CPR sequences for infants, children and adults. With this class,
you will also learn how to use the automated external defibrillator
properly. The trainings involve utilizing emergency breathing devices
and giving ventilations with advanced airway.
